NEWS: “Hiding in the Light” Author Shares Spiritual Journey on Fox & Friends

Rifqa Bary, author of Hiding in the Light (WaterBrook Press), discusses her conversion as a teenager from Islam to Christianity on Fox & Friends. In her interview, Bary shares why in 2009 she chose to runaway from her home, the consequences she’s experienced and the freedom she’s discovered.

Hiding in the Light recounts Bary’s experience of secretly converting to Christianity as a twelve-year-old. When Bary’s faith was discovered by her family four years later, Bary fled to Florida, fearing repercussions from her strict Muslim father. Bary’s multi-state custody battle with her parents made national headlines.

Three WaterBrook Multnomah Books Receive ECPA Sales Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (May 11, 2015) – Two WaterBrook Multnomah children’s books and one popular Christian Living title were honored with ECPA Sales Achievement Awards during the ECPA Awards banquet on May 5, 2015. God Gave Us You (2000) by Lisa Tawn Bergren and Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World (2000) by Joanna Weaver were presented with the Platinum Award for exceeding 1 million copies in sales. God Gave Us Christmas (2006) by Lisa Tawn Bergren received the Gold Award for exceeding more than 500,000 copies sold.  The Gold and Platinum Book Awards recognize sales achievements in Christian literature. Awards are presented annually at the ECPA Leadership Summit.

NEWS: Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World Surpasses One Million Copies Sold

The perennially favorite women’s book, Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver (WaterBrook Press), has sold more than one million copies and has been honored with the ECPA Platinum Award.  Originally released in 2000, Weaver’s CBA and Publishers Weekly best-seller on the sisters of Bethany, Mary and Martha, has become a cherished resource for women’s Bible study groups.

NEWS: “Out of A Far Country” Author Featured in The Christian Post

Speaking at the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission’s National Conference about his own experience of becoming a Christian as a same-sex attracted man, Moody Bible Professor Christopher Yuan and author of Out of A Far Country, urged Christian parents to love their lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual children and lead them back to the Gospel.

“Parents, love your LGBT or same-sex attracted children and point them to a life of costly discipleship following Jesus,” states Yuan.

President and Publisher Steve Cobb Retires – Alexander Field Named New WaterBrook Multnomah Publisher

The Crown Publishing Group announced several important changes about the WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group today. WaterBrook Multnomah President and Publisher Steve Cobb is set to retire in March 2015 after 18 years with the company. Alex Field will join WaterBrook Multnomah as Vice President, Publisher starting Dec. 1, 2014. Field most recently has been the VP, Publisher for David C Cook.

Publishers Weekly Calls Thief of Glory ‘One of Brouwer’s Best’

Acclaimed author Sigmund Brouwer‘s newest novel, Thief of Glory, recently earned a starred review from Publishers Weekly, meaning they consider it ‘a book of outstanding quality.’

Thief of Glory is a historical novel set in 1942, when the Japanese invaded the Dutch East Indies. Ten-year-old Jeremiah Prins and his family are taken to a camp where they face starvation, brutality and despair. Separated from his father and older brothers, Jeremiah must take over as the head of the family in order to help his mother and younger siblings survive. Nick Vujicic Named One of 33 Leaders Shaping the Next Generation

International evangelist and founder of Life Without Limbs, Nick Vujicic, appeared in Christianity Today’s cover story “33 Under 33.” The article highlights 33 leaders who are shaping future generations. Vujicic was included because of his inspiring message of overcoming difficult circumstances. Born without arms or legs, Vujicic now travels the globe to share his encouraging message. In 2013 Vujicic traveled to 25 countries as part of his World Tour Outreach, and reached an estimated 400 million people through his speaking events and through broadcast media.
