COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 10, 2016)—Whatever Is Lovely, the first Christian adult coloring book from WaterBrook Press, has reached a print milestone with more than 325,000 copies now in print since its release on December 15, 2015. Since publication, Whatever Is Lovely has been listed three times on Publishers Weekly’s best-selling trade books and on the religion non-fiction best-seller list.
One of the most popular trends of 2015, adult coloring offers adults the opportunity to unwind through a tactile, stress-relieving creative experience. Whatever Is Lovely builds on this popular hobby by engaging women not only artistically, but spiritually. Each page of the beautifully illustrated book contains a Scripture, hymn, or quote from a popular author or speaker, including Lysa TerKeurst, Liz Curtis Higgs and Corrie ten Boom. Printed on heavy paper stock in a 9 ¾ by 9 ¾ trim size with a gold foil cover, the 96-page coloring book contains 45 illustrations from a dozen different artists to provide a high-quality coloring experience. The coloring book also includes a link to a uniquely created worship playlist designed to set the mood for contemplation and worship.
“I’m blown away by how many women have used Whatever Is Lovely to express creativity, release stress, and even breathe new life into their quiet time with the Lord,” said Kendall Davis, member of the book’s development team and assistant editor at WaterBrook Multnomah. “We put our hearts and souls into this coloring book, and I’m so glad that readers love the book as much as we do.”
Whatever Is Lovely has also seen high engagement with the book’s content via social media. On Instagram and Facebook, thousands of users have shared images of their completed or in progress coloring pages using the hashtag #whateverislovely. Users have also responded well to the playlist included with the book. “We’ve had over a thousand people come to our Spotify playlist so far,” said Jessie Gingrich, marketing associate at WaterBrook Multnomah and playlist curator. “We’ve continued to add an average of 50 new subscribers per day.”
