New Cover for “Finding God in a Galaxy Far, Far Away” Ahead of Latest Star Wars Film

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., December 11, 2015 WaterBrook Multnomah recently announced a repackage of Finding God in a Galaxy Far, Far Away (WaterBrook Press) by Timothy Paul Jones. First published in 2003, Finding God in a Galaxy Far, Far Away is an exploration of the parallels between Christian faith and the original six Star Wars films. The new cover appeals to both new and old fans eager to understand all aspects of the Star Wars universe as they anticipate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh film in the series, on December 18, 2015.

Jones was first captivated by the story of Star Wars when he saw the film as a child from the backseat of his parents’ Ford Pinto. “It sent me on a quest that continues today. There is, in every one of us, a longing to touch ‘the forever,’ to sense the magnitude of the vastness in which we live,” said Jones. “After [over forty] years, the popularity of the Star Wars saga shows no sign of subsiding. I wrote this book to inspire readers to relish awe and wonder because God did not only create us to long for awe, but also to live in it!”

By looking closely at the films, Jones unpacks why this series has resonated so deeply with both Christian and non-Christian readers alike. He invites readers to rediscover the magnificence of God through understanding how Star Wars appeals to an innate desire for calling, purpose, and adventure.

Each chapter examines at a central theme in the Star Wars universe and connects it to relevant biblical passages. Through practical next-steps and Star Wars themed meditations, Jones gives readers clear guidance on applying these lessons in everyday life. The book also contains an appendix summarizing key plot points of the first six films, as well as a study guide designed for small group discussion.
