Book Trailer: HOLY SEXUALITY AND THE GOSPEL by Christopher Yuan

From the author of Out of a Far Country, which details his dramatic conversion from an agnostic gay man who put his identity in his sexuality to a Bible professor who now puts his identity in Christ alone, comes a gospel-centered discussion of sex, desire, and relationships.

Dr. Christopher Yuan explores the concept of holy sexuality—chastity in singleness or faithfulness in marriage—in a practical and relevant manner, equipping readers with an accessible yet robust theology of sexuality. Whether you want to share Christ with a loved one who identifies as gay or you’re wrestling with questions of identity yourself, this book will help you better understand sexuality in light of God’s grand story and realize that holy sexuality is actually good news for all.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Several good books have focused upon six biblical passages that clearly articulate that same-sex relationships are not a part of god’s plan, and these are important discussions. But we can’t base Christian life simply upon what we should not do. That would be focusing upon the tree at the expense of the forest. When we use God’s grand story as the framework: creation, fall, redemption, consummation, we will be much better in a way to understand our gay friends and a loved one with same-sex attractions. Because honestly we cannot properly understand human sexuality until we begin with theological anthropology.

Our gut instinct is to jump in and show compassion, show love, but that might be jumping in and doing right before we think right because when we do we may be doing wrong. In my book Holy Sexuality and the Gospel: Sex, Design, and Relationship Shaped By God’s Grand Story, I articulate a beautiful, robust biblical and systematic theology of sexuality which then compels us into action to love our gay neighbor and to better minister to Christian friends with same-sex attractions.
