Much Anticipated Sequel to In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day Set for Fall 2016

Bestselling author Mark Batterson has signed a major book deal with WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House, for a follow-up title to his book “In a Pit with Lion on a Snowy Day.” Titled Chase the Lion: If Your Dream Doesn’t Scare You, It’s Too Small, the book is scheduled to release from Multnomah on September 6, 2016, in print, digital and audio formats.

Batterson, author of more than a dozen bestselling books, including The New York Times bestseller The Circle Maker, is the lead pastor of National Community Church (NCC). Located on seven campuses in Washington D.C., NCC is known as one of the most innovative and influential churches in America.

Chase the Lion will be the thematic sequel to Batterson’s first book, bestseller and perennial favorite, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day: How to Survive and Thrive When Opportunity Roars (May 2006). Multnomah will release an updated edition of In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day on August 16, 2016.

“Nearly ten years ago, WaterBrook Multnomah published my first book, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day,” Batterson said. “In the decade since, I’ve heard thousands of stories about lion chasers going after their God-sized dreams, and I’ve chased a few more myself. Those stories were begging for a sequel. Chase the Lion will help readers see and seize the God-ordained opportunities that often come disguised as five-hundred pound lions.”

“Mark is one of the most important and inspiring communicators in the Church today, and this book will encourage a whole new generation of readers who are out chasing lions every day,” said Alex Field, WaterBrook Multnomah vice president and publisher. “We all have dreams that scare us, and Mark’s challenge for you and I, is to take courage and embark on the chase of a lifetime.”

Field and editor Andrew Stoddard jointly acquired the project. Batterson is represented by Esther Fedorkevich of The Fedd Agency.
