About In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day

What if the life you really want and the future God wants for you are hiding right now in your biggest problem, your worst failure…your greatest fear?

#InAPit

“Mark has become one of the most important voices for a new generation. Anything he touches changes lives. Read this book and you’ll see what I mean.”  —CRAIG GROESCHEL, pastor of Life.Church, author of Chazown and Dare to Drop the Pose

“As a leader and teacher, Mark Batterson brings imagination, energy, and insight. I appreciate his willingness to take bold risks and go to extraordinary lengths to reach our culture with a message that is truly relevant.”  —ED YOUNG, senior pastor, Fellowship Church

“Don’t settle for a normal life. Conquer your fears, accept His anointing, jump into that pit, chase the lion, and watch God’s Kingdom come in amazing ways.”  —CHRISTINE CAINE, founder of Propel Women, author of Unashamed

Your greatest regret at the end of your life will be the lions you didn't chase. You will look back longingly on risks not taken, opportunities not seized, and dreams not pursued. Stop running away from what scares you most and start chasing the God-ordained opportunities that cross your path. In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day is inspired by one of the most obscure yet courageous acts recorded in Scripture, a blessed and audacious act that left no regrets: “Benaiah chased a lion down into a pit. Then, despite the snow and slippery ground, he caught the lion and killed it” (2 Samuel 23:20 -21). Unleash the lion chaser within!

Groundbreaking Message by New York Times Best-selling Author Equips Believers to Seize their Divine Opportunities

In Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson

Hidden in the Old Testament book of 2 Samuel is the story of how the warrior Benaiah accomplished many heroic deeds. His most impressive exploit? He chased a lion into a pit and killed it. That single act of courage led to his commission as King David’s chief bodyguard.

With In Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day: How to Survive and Thrive When Opportunity Roars, (Multnomah, 8/16/16), New York Times best-selling author and Pastor Mark Batterson uses this often overlooked biblical passage to show how some of the best opportunities in a believer’s life will not be planned, but will seem like very scary surprises.

Batterson issues a strong challenge to Christians: “When we don’t have the guts to step out in faith and chase lions, then God is robbed of the glory that rightfully belongs to him,” he says. The question he poses the reader is: will you take the risk, embrace the uncertainty and wrestle the lion before you?

Combining insightful biblical teaching with inspiring stories from his own life and ministry, Batterson also coaches Christians to:
· courageously believe God’s promises for their lives
· unlearn their fears and see how God is increasing their capacity for victory via adversity
· keep in the step with the Holy Spirit instead of operating in their own strength
· learn to enjoy God’s unique journey for them

This new 10-year anniversary edition of In Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day, which includes an additional chapter, equips a new generation to take hold of the divine opportunities before them.

I will be honest I had passed this book up due to the title (I just didn't get it) but when I had the chance to read "Chase the Lion" by Mark Batterson I had to go back and read this book!  I am so glad I did.  This book was originally published in 2006 and then republished in 2016. There is a lot of bible verses in this book which I loved.  I think this will either a book you totally love or really hate.  It really depends on where you are...

In A Pit with a Lion On a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson is about who to overcome your fears in order to survive and thrive.  The author talks about how playing it safe is potentially risky and may take us away from the plan God ultimately has for our lives. Essentially, this book gives insights and tools in how to get out of our comfort zone to get into a place where God can move us to where we never thought we could achieve. I received a copy...

I have been a fan of Battersons writings. His words in his books are clearly lived out in his life. More often than not Im one who gives in to apathy or walks away (or around) fear and obstacles. But in In a Pit with A Lion on A Snowy Day" we are challenged to do the unnatural thing or rather supernatural thing and embrace the "Lions" in our lives to see the challenge of what God can and will do through your life. And such will be a testimony...

Did you know that Benaiah, one of David's mighty warriors, "went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion" (2 Samuel 23:20)? Neither did I.Mark Batterson's book In a Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day: How to Survive and Thrive When Opportunity Roars of course lured me because of the title, but it is one of the most stirring books I've read in a while.First of all, Benaiah chased a lion. Chased a Lion! Second, he chased the lion on a...

I had heard of and seen this book in various places over the years, but I never thought it would be for me.  The subtitle states "How to Survive and Thrive When Opportunity Roars".  My primary job title is Mom, and I'm not career-oriented, so how many big opportunities are really going to come my way?  What I found is that this book speaks to any challenges in life, not just opportunities in the career field.  Mark Batterson writes in a very...
