About Shattered Dreams

Learn How to Look Through Life's Tragedies and See the Lavish Blessings God Has For You!
“Shattered dreams,” writes Dr. Larry Crabb, “are never random. They are always a piece in a larger puzzle, a chapter in a larger story. The Holy Spirit uses the pain of shattered dreams to help us discover our desire for God, to help us begin dreaming the highest dream.”
To help you understand this neglected truth in the deepest and most helpful way, author and counselor Larry Crabb has written a wise, hopeful, honest, and realistic examination of life’s difficulties and tragedies. He wraps insights around the bold story of Naomi in the Bible’s book of Ruth.
As Crabb retells and illuminates this sometimes disturbing and often profoundly touching story, we are shown how God stripped Naomi of happiness in order to prepare her for joy. And we gain an unforgettable picture of how God uses shattered dreams to release better dreams and a more fulfilling life for those He loves.
Shattered dreams have the power to change our lives for good. Forever.

I have not only read this book twice, but have used it in a recent women's book study. If you know anyone who is suffering pain from past hurts, grief or self-esteem, this book will open their heart in areas previously closed. This book directed our ladies down paths they would not have dared venture alone. Most importantly, it was a reminder that we don't walk the path of depression and agony alone. I highly recommend this book.

There are those who heal through sharing knowledge and then there are those who heal through sharing their hearts. This is a heart-sharing book. Those of us who have been broken beyond repair seem to share a special language. I can't describe it except to say that I know it when I feel it. SHATTERED DREAMS is a book about healing. It's about understanding the purpose in pain and it's a book about learning to live in the midst of life's...

I finally worked the whole way thru Shattered Dreams ...I took my time and did the workbook part also. I highly recommend this study for any small group or book club study. "Shattered dreams open the door to better dreams, dreams that we do not properly value until the dreams that we improperly value are destroyed." So much great material. Give it a You will be glad you did.

I requested this book thinking of my dear husband who is paralyzed from the waist down and who finds it difficult to except his "shattered dreams" on occasion. What I didn't realize, however, is that this book actually spoke to the deeper issues I have residing in my heart that are keeping me from experiencing joy to the fullest extent. In Shattered Dreams: God's Unexpected Path to Joy, Larry Crabb uses the story of Naomi throughout the...

Crabb has undergone a philosophical change over the years, perhaps due to his own battles with cancer. He has moved from focusing on teaching the principles of the Bible to the Person of the Bible. In Shattered Dreams, he explodes the myth of the "pleasant life." Using the Book of Ruth and Naomi's journey from bitter grief to renewed hope as a backdrop, Crabb urges his readers to grapple with their unmet expectations in life and to ponder...
