MORF Magazine is featuring “Death of the Church Lady” from author Shellie Rushing Tomlinson’s new book Heart Wide Open.

Known as “the Belle of All Things Southern,” Tomlinson writes with her distinctive Louisiana southern-style wisdom, humor and perspective, inviting readers to seek more than a mundane faith to take a step of surrender.

Tomlinson writes, “In short, I was a hypocrite! 

Though the news came as quite a surprise to me, the ugly truth was undeniable. An internet dictionary offers the following spot-on definition of my true state in that telling moment: a hypocrite is “a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.”
