(Colorado Springs, Colo., August 27, 2012) – David Platt’s blockbuster Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream has reached another major milestone: 100 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List in the Paperback Advice/How To/Misc category. The book has over one million copies in print, and it continues to appear on the CBA Top 50 Best Seller List. Radical first debuted on the New York Times list on June 6, 2010, just weeks after it released, and has remained a frequent presence for more than two years.
In ongoing support for the message of Radical, WaterBrook Multnomah is hosting a contest to give one winner a $1,000 Visa gift card to help with his or her 2012/2013 gospel mission trip expenses. The contest runs through September 9, 2012 and is open to U.S. residents age 18 or older who will participate in a gospel mission trip in 2012. More details are available here.
A hardcover combined edition of The Radical Question and The Radical Idea will be releasing October 2, 2012 from Multnomah Books (ISBN 9781601424891). The Radical Question offers a compelling introduction to Radical’s challenge to the contemporary church. In this concise message, Platt asks, "What is Jesus worth to you?" Then he explores what a commitment to Jesus would actually look like in action. The Radical Idea extracts key passages in Radical Together, the follow up to Radical, to show readers that church is not built on places, performances, programs, or professionals, but on people. Platt argues that those of us in the pews are meant to be active and intentional in spreading the good news of the gospel because when ordinary believers mobilize in everyday ministry, communities and church families change dramatically.
Dr. David Platt is the pastor of the Church at Brook Hills, a four-thousand-member congregation in Birmingham, Alabama, comprised of world-impacting disciples who really believe that as a church they can shake the nations for God’s glory. David has earned two undergraduate degrees from the University of Georgia and three advanced degrees, including a doctor of philosophy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to coming to Brook Hills, he served the seminary as dean of chapel and assistant professor of expository preaching and apologetics and was on staff at Edgewater Baptist Church in New Orleans.
