You Were Born for This

I was blown away when I read the back cover. This book grips you and gives you the ability to dream and put faith in the Giver of Dreams, God. It encourages you to fulfill our God-given role in this worls, while being the family man that God has ordaied us to be.

Unlike many of you I've never even hear of Bruce Wilkinson before I got this book yet with the title like You Were Born for This I still had some expectations of what this book might be about. Here is what I thought it would be about: a happy message describing how we are all special, made in the image of God to prosper, be blessed, and live a Godly life. Here is the total opposite: it was about how WE can be a blessing to other, how WE can be the miracle that we seek, how we can notice the small miracles all around us and how much of an impact we can have on the world around us. I do not like with how the title was printed on the cover, because the part about miracles is in small letters at the bottom of the page when it should be bolded front and center because this is what the book essentially was about.

The book was inspiring, made me want to do random miracles for others as Bruce describes through his stories. Made me laugh, made me think, most importantly it made a change within me. Wondering if this book is the same old stuff you keep reading about and hearing from Christian authors, speakers, and preachers, it's not. It challenges the reader quite unlike anywhere or anything I have read before.

You're wondering about miracles in your life, or how you can experience them? This is the book for you; don't think you know what this book is about before you read it. The old saying holds true here, don't judge a book by its cover because within its pages lies a blessing not only for you but for everyone you will come in contact with. For starters, let me say that I was pleasantly surprised at the content of this book as I began to indulge in it. I had somehow thought it was going to be a book about fulfilling one's calling/purpose...and you know...it is that...but not how I had thought.

Turned out the Lord was intending on changing my mind sets! (and yours!)

The author suggests that what we were born for is to..."Do what God wants done." Plain and simple. And really...I believe this with my whole heart. (aren't our own plans just junk?)

Questions the author asks his reading audience which to me were/are thought provoking are:

*Why are these experiences of the miraculous so rare for most people?

*What if Heaven actually wanted you to experience them on a regular basis?

*What if ordinary people like you and me are invited to partner with God to deliver miracles to others?

Interesting!

Thoughts to ponder and then act upon!

This book is chock full of little nuggets throughout which I adore! Things to ponder and to meditate upon. Here are some examples:

"God did not place you on this earth to notice Him at work only once or twice in your whole life." " When the Father has a miracle mission in mind, increasingly He will send you, one of His devoted team players." " God intends for us to use our money to display His goodness and faithfulness in miraculous ways."

The anointing of the Lord on the writing of this book is quite evident as I experienced the Holy Spirit hovering over me as I read...bringing even more illumination.

I am blessed to of gotten my hands on this book.

Not a book to be lightly read, but one to study and meditate upon.

In this book Mr. Wilkinson compels you to ask yourself several questions. What is a miracle? Do you believe in miracles? Have you seen or experienced a miracle? Can you be a part of a miracle for someone else?

His basic premise is that as followers of Jesus our life's work is to "go and make disciples of all nations." A pretty tall order - impossible even, in our own power, but with the power of His Holy Spirit within us we can and should be doing so much more than we may realize.

Wilkinson's book continues by spelling out step by step how we can make ourselves ready and willing to allow God to use us to accomplish miracles in other people's lives. And while some of his "keys" and "signals" and other terms may seem somewhat forced at times, I found many ideas I can put into play in my own life.

I do believe this was a good wakeup call for me to hear. Am I living up to what God created me to be? Am I aware of the needs of those around me? Am I willing to be used by my loving Heavenly Father to make a difference in the lives of those around me? I found the book a great reminder to really notice the people I come in contact with and to pay attention to how my willingness to be used by God in even small ways can affect their lives. A miracle doesn't need to be big and flashy - but a small deed or action orchestrated by God can be life changing to all involved.

You were Born for This by Bruce Wilkinson has the potential to be life changing. Wilkinson presents information to help you be the instrument God uses to bring everyday miracles to those around you. What a blessing to encourage others everyday!

God wants you to act for Him, plain and simple. This book can help you open the door to Him as he desires.
