About God Gave Us Sleep

“Little Cub!” Mama called. “Time for bed.”
Little Cub is having so much fun building an igloo with her friends that she doesn’t want to stop for bedtime! Who needs sleep when there’s fun to be had? Mama patiently answers her child’s questions as she puts her to bed, explaining the importance of daily rhythms of work, play, and rest. As they talk through the fears that come with nighttime—and work through Little Cub’s endless stalling tactics—our favorite bear learns to realize that God gave us sleep as a vital gift.
“God gave us rest so we have energy for our day, and patience to enjoy it. And so we have quiet time to listen to him.”
This charming addition to the best-selling God Gave Us series, with its Arctic characters and relevant message, will help all little ones prepare for a peaceful night’s rest.

Bestselling Series Teaches the Importance of Sleep
Mama Bear Shows Little Cub the Value of Sleep and Rest
“Why does God want us to rest? I think playin’ is a whole lot more fun than sleepin’...”
Little Cub is having fun playing with her friends. But when Mama Bear calls her home for bed, Little Bear is full of questions. Playing and working seem like a lot more fun than sleep. Besides, what if she has a nightmare? What if her mind is too full of distractions? Mama Bear patiently answers Little Cub’s questions, explaining the importance of God’s natural rhythms of work, play and rest.
God Gave Us Sleep (WaterBrook Press 8/21/2015) is a beautifully illustrated book, perfect for tired parents and curious children to read together to prepare the way for a peaceful night’s sleep. Through the wonderful world of this favorite polar bear family, preschoolers will be introduced to the concept that sleep isn’t just an end to fun – it’s a good part of how God designed all people. Mama Bear’s thoughtful answers to Little Cub’s many questions are kid-friendly and rooted in the Christian faith.
Bergren, mother to three now-grown children, spent years convincing her kids of the need to sleep. Kids—and adults—struggle to get adequate rest and sleep. Here’s a goodnight book that kids will ask for again and again!
The release of God Gave Us Sleep marks the 15-year anniversary of the God Gave Us series, which began in 2000 with God Gave Us You and grew to include eight unique titles, two board book versions for younger children and several special editions. God Gave Us You was recently honored with the ECPA Platinum Award for exceeding 1 million copies in sales, and God Gave Us Christmas (2006) received the Gold Award for exceeding 500,000 copies sold. Combined, the series has sold over 3 million copies. In each book, Bergren’s charming polar bear family patiently answers Little Cub’s questions about life, family, and faith. The explanation of Christian beliefs combined with beautiful illustrations has made this series a favorite with both parents and children.

To be honest I didn't have a lot of expectations for this book. Christian children's books are usually lacking. However, I was pleasantly surprised with this book. The story is about a polar bear cub who thinks that sleep is cutting in on her fun, but after a poor night sleep and her mother's wisdom, she realizes how important sleep is so that she can have fun playing. It made a god point through a clear example that my kids could understand...

Was I the LAST person to ever hear about these "God Gave Us" books?  I received "God Gave Us Sleep" by Blogging For Books for review, with the intention to give it to my 3 year-old niece.  I have 3 children of my own, and I THOUGHT I had every single children's book out there!  My house is FULL of children's books.  And to be honest, despite my deep love for books, I had put a "pause" on buying  books for my children until they were old...
