This book starts off kind of slow with two "strange" women examining the wool at a vendor's booth in the market place. I have always been a fan of the Middle Ages and Merlin. The idea of the Orphan King came from the book Magnus written in 1995. I have not read the book so I could not compare the two editions of the story. The book was a little slow in the beginning but it picked up speed and I could not put it down. I had to find out if Thomas succeeds in his mission to conquer the castle "Magnus". I had thought that Merlin was going to be a character in the...

The cover seemed so mysterious; this drew me in as I've always had an interest in mystery. Combining an old and a new fiction interest, I figured this book could never let me down! And boy, was I right! While others have said the background information and the descriptions in the first 100 pages was slow and too much...

I decided to try it since the premise of the book is in Medieval times and I generally like stories in that era. The Orphan King is the story of a young man named Thomas, raised behind the walls of a monastery by Sarah,...

Plot: This was an interesting plot with a lot of mystery and intrigue. The plot is revealed as you read and you are kept in wonder as the story unfolds. But by the end of the book, the plot has been revealed and executed. You are left, however, with questions that are sure to be answered in the rest of the series. Characters: The character development in this book is very interesting. You start off with no knowledge of any of the...
