My Review of The Orphan King

I read a few different Sigmund Brouwer books in the past and always enjoyed them, and that is why I chose to read The Orphan King despite the fact that I don’t usually read fantasy type books.

The Orphan King is the story of Thomas, a young man who was raised by abusive monks in a monastery. With the help of a random group of companions, Thomas sets out to rescue and rule a unjust land.

Who the book is for:

I just realized right now, by looking at the back of the book, that this is a young adult book… I think it is appropriate for adults, as well.

What I liked:

The characters in this book are interesting.

The interactions between the characters are fun to read about.

What I didn’t like:

Some of this book is kind of hard to follow. As you can tell from my little summary of the book above, I still don’t really know what the story was all about.

My conclusion:

I found this book somewhat interesting, despite the fact that it isn’t a genre I usually read.

I give The Orphan King 3 out of 5 stars.

*I will not be adding this book to my bookshelf.
