C. J. Mahaney's book, Christ Our Mediator is a must read! I was hooked right from the first page discussing the reactions of people as they went to watch Mel Gibson's, The Passion versus when they came out of the theaters; silence. What could be said after a visual like that.

We wear necklaces with the cross on them. We hang crosses in our house but do we ever really stop to think what the cross means? Do we ever contemplate what happened at the cross?

The author talks about the famous line by so many people: Why do bad things happen to good people? The author points out that if we truly understood the results of the Fall of man, we should asking "Why does anything good happen at all?" The reason is because Christ shed His blood for us. He is our mediator and it is only because of Him that we have a chance at all to receive eternal life.

One of my favorite lines used was that if we say we prayed and laid something at the cross and then decided to pick it back up again, we never really prayed ,we just griped in God's presence.

There are many times in my personal life that I question whether God could truly understand EVERYthing I have been through. Healing took place in my life because of some of the truths revealed in this book. I am forever thankful to this author for showing the heart that God had. God KNEW the only chance for us to be saved was to choose to have His only Son killed on a cross. He did that willingly just as Christ chose to let the Father's will be done.

It's time to stop treating the cross like a story and understand the heart behind it, the agony before going to it, the heartbreak of the blood shed on it and the victory because of it! Get to know your Savior in a more personal way through this wonderfully written work!

I received this book from Waterbrook Multnomah's Blogging for Books Program and was not required to write a positive review.
