Wow! What. A. Book!
I have long loved the Biblical story of Ruth. There is romance, faith, heartbreak, and yes, happy endings. After reading The Girl’s Still Got It by Liz Curtis Higgs, I really, truly love the story of Ruth.
The Girl’s Still Got It is written by Liz Curtis Higgs. Liz is a gifted writer – of both fiction and devotionals. Have you read her Bad Girls of the Bible? How about Mine is the Night? Liz has a down to earth style that is easy to read. It feels like you’re talking with your best girl friend.
Now, lest you think Liz is only a fiction writer, Liz truly knows her Bible. She shows you that by traveling through the story of Ruth, verse by verse. Yes, you read that correctly. This book is a verse by verse devotional of the book of Ruth. You learn Biblical geography, Greek and Hebrew word translations, and ancient Bible history. This isn’t your normal devotional – because Ruth isn’t your normal girl.
Ruth is a rags-to-riches redemption story. She married young and was widowed young. She left her family, hometown and pagan gods to follow her widowed mother-in-law to a foreign land. Ruth follows Naomi’s instructions – and teachings – and puts her faith in the One True God.
Even though Ruth lived hundreds of years ago, there is so much for us to learn from her today. As godly women, we can certainly follow Ruth’s example. That’s what Liz helps remind us in The Girl’s Still Got It.
If you are looking for a good devotional, that will capture you, challenge you and motivate you. Look no further. This book is it! The Girl’s Still Got It is perfect for an individual study, but would be great for a group as well.
I received a free copy of this book from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing in exchange for my review. All opinions expressed are my own.
