I recently read Phil Callaway's "To Be Perfectly Honest" and absolutely loved it. It was witty, poignant, and insightful...and I'm not lying.

The basic premise of the book is simple enough - Phil Callaway agrees to document his attempt at not telling a single lie for an entire year. This leads to some awkward, funny, and embarrassing moments, as well as pulling out some timeless truths in the process.

I have to admit (this is a book about honesty after all), that I wasn't real impressed with the first portion of the book. In fact, about two weeks into Phil's journey, I was tempted to quit reading. However, I decided that to write and honest review, I probably should continue reading. Boy, am I glad I did.

I found myself laughing at some of the thoughts that went through Phil's (can I call him Phil?) head until I realized that I have thought similar things in similar situations. I also sympathized and empathized with the struggles openly (and sometimes sheepishly) discussed in the book.

I found the humor to be enjoyable, the wisdom to be beneficial, and the honesty to be heart-felt and sincere. All of that adds up to a great book in my opinion. I highly recommend this read to anyone who may be tempted to lie at some point in their lives.

Please know that I received this book for free from Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers in exchange for this HONEST and unbiased review.
